Eric Swanson's photographs are inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds his studio located in the desert outside of Santa Fe New Mexico. Swanson's approach to his photography is constantly evolving. It may find him producing large format commercial work in his studio one day or editorial assignment on location in the Southwest landscape the next.
Swanson's travels throughout Europe, Mexico, Central and South America have given him the global sensibilities necessary to transcend borders and capture the essence of diverse cultures and landscapes. Whether he is photographing a studio still life, personal portraiture, or a magazine travel essay, Swanson's vast repertoire is characterized by continuous threads of texture and light. The result is a fresh, original body of work.
Swanson's photographs have appeared in publications throughout the the United States, Europe, and Japan, including Travel and Leisure, People, Outside, Burda Publications, Japanese Newsweek, Stereophile's Guide to Home Theater, Wine Spectator and Business Week . Stock photography is represented by Swanstock and The Image Bank. His portraits of contemporary Hispanic artists and their work are highlighted in Across Frontiers: Hispanic Crafts of New Mexico, which was published by Chronicle Books in June 1998. |
